Headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, Petalo was founded in 2018 by senior care industry veterans, Camille Roussel and Jason Gottschalk. The company was launched with the goal of solving some of the indsutry’s largest challenges – one being the ability to leverage technology and expertise to create a seamless experience for the end user at senior care facilities.
Using voice-first smart screens as the end-user connection, the Petalo platform breaks free from legacy models to harness the latest in available technology. This customized platform transforms the user experience in senior care.
The Petalo team is comprised of senior care industry experts, who bring more than two decades worth of operations experience at the corporate level – to truly understand the ‘pain points’ and the areas of need and opportunity to enhance senior care facility operations, efficiency, staff satisfaction, and end-user delight.
President and CEO
Over my years in the senior care industry I have had the privilege in helping to open new senior care communities and adding new levels of care to existing facilities. Throughout that time one challenge that has remained consistent is finding the right tools that understand the unique business of caring for seniors. Petalo is passionately focused on unscrambling senior care operations through technology.
Prior to starting Petalo I started my senior care journey at the National Lutheran family including leading IT for The Village at Rockville, then as the Chief Information Officer for National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS), and finally serving as the NLCS’ Chief Quality and Performance Officer.
Before joining the National Lutheran family, I served the U.S. Army for four years as an Information Management Officer and Section Leader in Fairbanks, Alaska and Mosul, Iraq. I have also taught Microsoft, Adobe, and Linux courses at the Institute for Instructional Technology.
Vice President, Product Innovation
As a professional in the senior care field for over ten years, I grew increasingly frustrated with the tools and programs available to senior care organizations. I wanted to help create a solution for improved communication, customer satisfaction, and staff engagement.
I became the Vice President of Product Innovation at Petalo in March 2018. Prior to that I was the Executive Director of The Village at Rockville. I joined the Life Enrichment team at The Village at Rockville in 2010 and held the position of Director of Community Services before becoming Executive Director.
I come from a background in higher education and church work. I also hold music performance and history degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Luther Seminary and St. Olaf College (Minnesota) and Wheaton College and Conservatory of Music (Illinois).
